Sheffield United vs Sunderland Prediction
I am betting Sunderland 0.25 here today in the Championship playoff final that takes place at Wembley, the odds reflect Sunderland's end of season form including their playoff semi final games as they go into this as underdogs against a Sheffield United team who for me beat a dreadful Bristol City team. However, what the odds don't tell you is that Sunderland more or less give up when their chances of automatic promotion disappeared, that ploy of keeping themselves fresh for the playoffs nearly backfired on them as they looked like a team who lost their way against Coventry and in both matches in the semi final they were 2nd best and were lucky to get through to today's final but they are here all the same.
The reason I am giving them another chance is prior to that they were at least as good as Sheffield United, that may be difficult to understand given that Sheffield United finished with 14 more points than Sunderland but Sheffield United had their fair share of fortune this season and Sunderland's form dipped once they knew they were in the playoffs and could not achieve automatic promotion, so the 14 points difference for me is an exaggerated difference. The last time these teams met was in late January at the Stadium of light in Sunderland, in a game the home team won 1-0, Sunderland were best price at kick off 2.03 on the -0.5 line, so, today at a neutral venue we are getting 0.25 which is a turn around of odds I am happy to live with for a bet. I have no doubt that If this game was being played 6 weeks ago it would have been a draw no bet line, now we can get 0.25 and we could see a Sunderland team with the pressure off today and where those 2 matches against Coventry bring them back to the form that they showed prior to the last 6 games of the regular season. Chancing Sunderland 0.25 to bounce back and I do believe they offer value today.
