Defensa y Justicia vs Banfield Predicción

Defensa y Justicia secured their spot in the 2025 Copa Sudamericana on the final matchday by drawing 0-0 against Unión Santa Fe at home, ensuring 12th place in the aggregate table. They achieved this thanks to a nine-match unbeaten streak in the league, with four wins and five draws. Defensa also have been unbeaten in their last nine home matches, with five wins and four draws since their 3-1 loss to Platense in July. Eight players left the club, including centre back Santiago Ramos Mingo (sold to EC Bahia, Brazil). Meanwhile, Lucas Gonzalez (acquired from Independiente) is the most significant summer signing for coach Pablo De Muner, who also welcomes back Gastón Togni after recovering from a ligament injury.

Banfield had a very poor season in 2024, drawing 1-1 at home against Sarmiento on the final matchday to make it 41 points in the same number of matches, finishing 26th out of 28 teams in the aggregate table. This also places them in a danger zone in the relegation point-averages table. In fact, the team failed to win any of their last eight league matches, with three draws and five losses (earning just two points from the last 18 available as visitors). For this year, the club hired Ariel Broggi, who is making his debut as a head coach. Diego Romero (arriving from Universitario, Peru), Martín Río (Queretaro, Mexico), and Joaquín Pombo (Independiente del Valle, Ecuador) are new signings.

Can't see how Banfield is going to improve this season with what looks like mediocre signings and a debuting coach so I'll trust Defensa to continue where they left last season after a good undefeated streak.
